Lake District: Low Level and Lake Walks (British Walking) Customer Reviews
:- from HMS Warspite -- TOP 1000 REVIEWER : For the older, the slower, and the more cautious... ( 5.0 out of 5 stars )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Helen lawrence -- lovely book but..... : I'm actually having a little chuckle at writing this review....when I ordered this book I was going to visit the Lakes with my partner (not entirely fit but not unfit) and my 70+ aged parents who do a bit of walking...(5-6 miles a day) I ordered it as it was for low level walks of the Lakes district, I thought that's just the job! We were guided by the book on its levels of difficulty and chose a level 2 which was about four and a half mile walk which we thought would just suit us all.....hmm, dad had to turn back (with mam) after approx half a mile due to the climb....My partner and myself continued on with him rambling on about the climb and this being a level 2 walk.....eventually six miles later we arrived back at base. Reading the book these walks may be classed as low level walks if you normally climb Everest but when I bought it i was expecting to be walking at pretty much ground level. It looks like next time I'll be looking at level 1 walks (which I can say there weren't many to choose from) I don't think I'll be using the book much more.....shame ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 26, 2019 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Pocket size : Great little pocket sized book for discovering new places in the Lakes for days when you want something less challenging but rewarding. So impressed I also bought the Walks to Waterfalls, Woodland walks and History Walks. They all seem very informative and previous reviews indicate they are accurate. Also good price point. - 4.0 out of 5 stars from RMM -- A great wee book : I would recommend this book if you are going to the Lake District and don't want to climb mountains. It gives a selection of low level and round lake walks that are graded for difficulty, and distances/times are given. It has walks in some areas that are a bit off the beaten track, therefore fairly quiet but still interesting. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 18, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from M -- Excellent - despite being low level : Excellent - despite being low level, the walks we did still took us well into the hills and had wonderful views. Great for hot weather, when you just don’t want to climb so far! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 19, 2018 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from munroist -- Ideal for short and medium, undemanding hikes. : I have not had a chance to use the book as yet. I looked at some of the walks as I am very familiar with The Lake District. It is clear, comprehensive and easy to follow. I am looking forward to my next trip and will base my outings on some of the routes in this book. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 1, 2021 )
